👉  PROPOSAL REPORT WRITING 

Activities

• I continue doing report writing for chapter 3 which is methodology. In the methodology, it must include block diagram, flow chart, circuit diagram, experiment test, components, data survey analysis and gantt chart.
• The components that will be used in this project are sound sensor FC-04, Microcontroller Arduino Uno, WeMos WiFi Module and Battery 9v. 
• Medical equipment that will be using for experimental purpose of this project is Terumo Terufusion TE-311 Syringe Pump.

- Arduino is an open source electronic board, based on flexible and easy to use software and hardware.

-Sound Sensor is used to detect the alarm sound from medical equipment.

👉  PREPARING FINAL YEAR PROJECT 1 REPORT PROPOSAL 

Activities

• Update the literature review for FYP 1 report. The article that I have reviewed are ' Development of Medical Equipment Alarm Monitoring System', ' A New Sensor Uses Sound to Diagnose Faults in Industrial Machinery', ' Medical Device Alarms Pose Safety Issues for Hospitals', ' Internet of Medical Things Devices Demand Dynamic Networks', 'Detection System of Sound Noise Level(SNL) based on Condenser Microphone Sensor' and I also compared on the sound sensor that is suitable to be used for this project. These are all the articles that related to my project. By studying these articles, I have the idea on the flow in developing this prototype.
• In the article review, I have summarize all the information that I get from the articles. So, it is easier to know the focus of those articles.

Activities

• Construct circuit on the breadboard to test the sound sensor and to get preliminary result. 
• The equipment used for this test is Terumo Terufusion TE-311 syringe pump. 
• The sound sensor captured the alarm sound from the syringe pump in the condition where the syringe pump having plunger error and condition where low battery.
• The alarm sound showed the wave pattern in the oscilloscope where I able to know the frequency and amplitude of the alarm sound.

👉 MEETING WITH RADIBEMS - SELAYANG HOSPITAL

Activities

• The objective of this visit is to gain more information regarding alarm system in medical equipment and how the medical staffs handled with the breakdown of medical equipment in the hospitals.
• The other purpose of this visit is to ask the Radibems Sdn Bhd staffs to answer the survey questionnaire on biomedical engineering service and maintenance. This survey answer will help to guide me through this project.
• Total of 10 respondent from Radibems Sdn Bhd at hospital selayang answer the survey questionnaire. 
• During the visit, I also have an interview session with one of the engineer of Radibems Sdn Bhd. The staff explained on how the medical staff handled with the breakdown of medical equipment in the hospital. When there is breakdown of medical equipment, the medical staff need to fill in the form in order to inform about the breakdown medical equipment. Then, the form will be send to the admin of the hospital. The technician or biomedical engineer will only be informed of the medical equipment breakdown through the admin. The staff then add, they actually required about 2 hours in order to respond to any breakdown report because of the procedure that need to be followed by medical staffs. By reviewing this situation, the biomedical engineer/technician able to respond to any breakdown report early if there is the system that able to send the information directly to them. 
• The staff also explained on the troubleshooting of the medical equipment. The biomedical engineer/technician will be given 7 days to fix the breakdown in medical equipment. They will take maximum 3 days to detect the faulty part in the medical equipment that cause the breakdown. If they failed to fix the medical equipment in 7 days, they will need to send the medical equipment to the vendor and their salary will be deducted for the days after the time frame given. This is the situation that the technician and also the company want to avoid as it could cause a loss to the company. The company need to pay to the vendor for fixing the medical equipment. So, they need to be fast in fixing the medical equipment to avoid the loss. The staff add that as for now, they only depend on the skills of the technician and tester to detect the faulty part in the medical equipment. It would be good to have a system that able to directly detect the faulty part in medical equipment.

• For this project, I have decided to focus on the detection of the alarm sound from Terumo Terufusion TE-311 syringe pump, which this medical equipment is available in the lab at level 2 UniKL BMI. As this project need to be able to detect the faulty part of medical equipment, I will focus on the error occur on the main board of the syringe pump.

• The 2nd workshop is about Methodology(Chapter 3) and Result and Discussion(Chapter 4).
• In the methodology section of a research paper, must be able to answer questions such as " how was the data collected or generated?" and " how was it analyzed?".
• Content in the methodolgy should include block diagram, flow chart, schematic diagram, simulation software, plan layout, list of component/equipment,cost estimation and gantt chart.
• As for the Result and Discussion(Chapter 4), result need to be presented in the form of figures, tables or text so that the key information is highlighted and explain the outcome of the simulation and testing.

• Read an article of  Factors that Affect Design of Secondary Alarm Notification Systems. 💨 Alarm fatigue occur when there is improper customization of alarm system. The clinician and medical staffs may be missed the alarm  and it will affect patients condition. Secondary device notification system is used to reduce the scope of the alarm by directly transmitting to the person responsible for it,rather than broadcasting the alarm to all staff members.

➤Firstly, we were having ice breaking session with Radibems staff. 
➤Encik Ahmad Kamil bin Kaiyem as the Technical Manager of Radibems Sdn Bhd introduce all his staff which their position at work are as Biomedical Engineer, Biomedical Technician and Technician. 
➤Encik Kamil then explained background of Radibems and also their scope of work. Radibems is specialist in Biomedical Engineering Management Services. They received broken medical equipment from the hospital and fixed them. They cover the equipment from 3 hospitals which is Hospital Ampang, Hospital Sungai Buluh and Hospital Selayang. They also have teaching factory class in UniKL BMI.
➤Next, the students explained the purpose of this meeting to the Radibems staff which is this survey is needed for our Final Year Project 1. We would like to collect information on the significance of this project.
➤One of the question asked by the students is how they handle the faulty/damaged medical equipment. The information we get is that in a hospital, there is not enough support machine to replaced the broken one. It is because the medical equipment itself is costly. One of the way to solve the problem is by fixing them through troubleshooting the equipment to detect the faulty part.
➤Encik Kamal also interested with the idea of our project which the system will detect the faulty component in the medical devices. He said that the system to detect faulty component is not yet exist and it would be great if we able to make that happen.

• Literature Review(Chapter 2) can be obtained from reading the scholar articles, journals, magazines and other reading materials. Students need to do summary on the reading material based on the student's understanding. 
• A good literature review(Chapter 2) must focus on the topic, concise, logical and developed.
