Activities
  • Completing the full report for Final Year Project 1 from Chapter 1 to Chapter 6.
  • Send the full proposal report to supervisor via email to check the contents of my report and to check for plagiarism.
  • My supervisor will inform if there any corrections or improvement to be done through email.
  • The hard copy will be send only if supervisor satisfied with the report proposal.

Activities
  • I continue doing report writing for chapter 3 which is methodology. In the methodology, it must include block diagram, flow chart, circuit diagram, experiment test, components, data survey analysis and gantt chart.
  • The components that will be used in this project are sound sensor FC-04, Microcontroller Arduino Uno, WeMos WiFi Module and Battery 9v. 
  • Medical equipment that will be using for experimental purpose of this project is Terumo Terufusion TE-311 Syringe Pump.

👉  PREPARING FINAL YEAR PROJECT 1 REPORT PROPOSAL 

Activities
  • Update the literature review for FYP 1 report. The article that I have reviewed are ' Development of Medical Equipment Alarm Monitoring System', ' A New Sensor Uses Sound to Diagnose Faults in Industrial Machinery', ' Medical Device Alarms Pose Safety Issues for Hospitals', ' Internet of Medical Things Devices Demand Dynamic Networks', 'Detection System of Sound Noise Level(SNL) based on Condenser Microphone Sensor' and I also compared on the sound sensor that is suitable to be used for this project. These are all the articles that related to my project. By studying these articles, I have the idea on the flow in developing this prototype.
  • In the article review, I have summarize all the information that I get from the articles. So, it is easier to know the focus of those articles.

  • The event start at 12.00 p.m. in Gemilang Hall. The students came early to the venue to prepare before the presentation. The accessor who accessed the students are Dr Mohd Noor and Madam Sabrina and the presentation went smoothly.

Activities
  • Construct circuit on the breadboard to test the sound sensor and to get preliminary result. 
  • The equipment used for this test is Terumo Terufusion TE-311 syringe pump. 
  • The sound sensor captured the alarm sound from the syringe pump in the condition where the syringe pump having plunger error and condition where low battery.
  • The alarm sound showed the wave pattern in the oscilloscope where I able to know the frequency and amplitude of the alarm sound.

👉 MEETING WITH RADIBEMS - SELAYANG HOSPITAL

Activities

  • The objective of this visit is to gain more information regarding alarm system in medical equipment and how the medical staffs handled with the breakdown of medical equipment in the hospitals.
  • The other purpose of this visit is to ask the Radibems Sdn Bhd staffs to answer the survey questionnaire on biomedical engineering service and maintenance. This survey answer will help to guide me through this project.
  • Total of 10 respondent from Radibems Sdn Bhd at hospital selayang answer the survey questionnaire. 
  • During the visit, I also have an interview session with one of the engineer of Radibems Sdn Bhd. The staff explained on how the medical staff handled with the breakdown of medical equipment in the hospital. When there is breakdown of medical equipment, the medical staff need to fill in the form in order to inform about the breakdown medical equipment. Then, the form will be send to the admin of the hospital. The technician or biomedical engineer will only be informed of the medical equipment breakdown through the admin. The staff then add, they actually required about 2 hours in order to respond to any breakdown report because of the procedure that need to be followed by medical staffs. By reviewing this situation, the biomedical engineer/technician able to respond to any breakdown report early if there is the system that able to send the information directly to them. 
  • The staff also explained on the troubleshooting of the medical equipment. The biomedical engineer/technician will be given 7 days to fix the breakdown in medical equipment. They will take maximum 3 days to detect the faulty part in the medical equipment that cause the breakdown. If they failed to fix the medical equipment in 7 days, they will need to send the medical equipment to the vendor and their salary will be deducted for the days after the time frame given. This is the situation that the technician and also the company want to avoid as it could cause a loss to the company. The company need to pay to the vendor for fixing the medical equipment. So, they need to be fast in fixing the medical equipment to avoid the loss. The staff add that as for now, they only depend on the skills of the technician and tester to detect the faulty part in the medical equipment. It would be good to have a system that able to directly detect the faulty part in medical equipment.

  • Supervisor asked to add respondent of the survey questionnaire. I did a google form of the survey questionnaire to make it easy for Biomedical Engineer/ Technologists/ Technician in the hospital to answer the survey.
