Activities

• Supervisor checked on the slide presentation and survey analysis. 
• Need to do some improvement on the data survey analysis.
• For this project, I have decided to focus on the detection of the alarm sound from Terumo Terufusion TE-311 syringe pump, which this medical equipment is available in the lab at level 2 UniKL BMI. As this project need to be able to detect the faulty part of medical equipment, I will focus on the error occur on the main board of the syringe pump.

👉 FINAL YEAR 1 PROJECT 2nd WORKSHOP

Activities

• The 2nd workshop is about Methodology(Chapter 3) and Result and Discussion(Chapter 4).
• In the methodology section of a research paper, must be able to answer questions such as " how was the data collected or generated?" and " how was it analyzed?".
• Content in the methodolgy should include block diagram, flow chart, schematic diagram, simulation software, plan layout, list of component/equipment,cost estimation and gantt chart.
• As for the Result and Discussion(Chapter 4), result need to be presented in the form of figures, tables or text so that the key information is highlighted and explain the outcome of the simulation and testing.

👉 LITERATURE REVIEW OF THE ARTICLES/JOURNALS

• Read an article of  Factors that Affect Design of Secondary Alarm Notification Systems. 💨 Alarm fatigue occur when there is improper customization of alarm system. The clinician and medical staffs may be missed the alarm  and it will affect patients condition. Secondary device notification system is used to reduce the scope of the alarm by directly transmitting to the person responsible for it,rather than broadcasting the alarm to all staff members.

👉 MEETING WITH RADIBEMS-SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE

➤Firstly, we were having ice breaking session with Radibems staff. 
➤Encik Ahmad Kamil bin Kaiyem as the Technical Manager of Radibems Sdn Bhd introduce all his staff which their position at work are as Biomedical Engineer, Biomedical Technician and Technician. 
➤Encik Kamil then explained background of Radibems and also their scope of work. Radibems is specialist in Biomedical Engineering Management Services. They received broken medical equipment from the hospital and fixed them. They cover the equipment from 3 hospitals which is Hospital Ampang, Hospital Sungai Buluh and Hospital Selayang. They also have teaching factory class in UniKL BMI.
➤Next, the students explained the purpose of this meeting to the Radibems staff which is this survey is needed for our Final Year Project 1. We would like to collect information on the significance of this project.
➤One of the question asked by the students is how they handle the faulty/damaged medical equipment. The information we get is that in a hospital, there is not enough support machine to replaced the broken one. It is because the medical equipment itself is costly. One of the way to solve the problem is by fixing them through troubleshooting the equipment to detect the faulty part.
➤Encik Kamal also interested with the idea of our project which the system will detect the faulty component in the medical devices. He said that the system to detect faulty component is not yet exist and it would be great if we able to make that happen.

• FYP Proposal Report Writing Workshop on Introduction(Chapter 1) and Literature Review(Chapter 2).
• FYP Proposal Report have 5 chapter which is Introduction, Literature/ Background Study, Methodology, Result and Conclusion. 
• Introduction(Chapter 1) of the report must include background of the project, problem statement, objectives of the project, significance of the project, scope and limitation of the project and chapter summary.
• Literature Review(Chapter 2) can be obtained from reading the scholar articles, journals, magazines and other reading materials. Students need to do summary on the reading material based on the student's understanding. 
• A good literature review(Chapter 2) must focus on the topic, concise, logical and developed.

Activities

Some task had been given by supervisor to be done during mid semester break:

1. Upload all the technical or scientific Journals/Conference Papers/Proceeding Papers in the blog.
2. Number of Uploaded for above (1.), must be more than 10 papers, would be appropriate.
3. Do the comparative studies on every finding such as sensor, at least 3 different sensors to do the comparative study.
4. Please upload as well the specification of the sensor of findings in the blog.
5. Prepare in advance the slide presentation of literature review by week 9.

• Further discussion on the project.
• Sir Shah suggested to do a survey related to the project. The objective of this project is to know and to proved the importance of the development of this project in the industry.

• The survey questions include which machine that always have faulty, what techniques that being used to detect the faulty, is it good to have a system that detect the faulty.
• Target person for this survey are the maintenance, radibems workers and person in charge for the medical equipments.
• Search for the sound sensors that is suitable for this project.

• Presentation by Final Year Project 2's students. They are Muhammad Hariz Bin Hamid and Abdul Bin Ismail. 
• They explained on the project they did for their FYP2.

• Their project is basically about equipment that detect alarm sound for the error occur in medical equipment and the data will be sent to the smart phone. 
• Their project differences are in term of data transmission. As for Muhammad Hariz, the data will be notified via apps and for Abdul, the data will be notified via Telegram.

• Discuss on the project that I need to do for my FYP 1.
• Decided to do a project of alarm system that detect the error occur on medical equipment.
• Supervisor explain in details the things that I need to do for this project.

Contents

• Focus on one medical equipment which is Syringe Pump.
• We discuss on the operation of the syringe pump which contain controller,driver and output.
• The idea for this project is, when the component(resistor/capacitor/pcb board) inside the syringe pump causes faulty/error, alarm will detect the error and make sound. Then, the person in charge for the equipment will received notification via smart phone. The sound produced will be different for each component/pcb board that have error.
